The timing is appropriate, I think, to take back our tea customs. Canada's tea customs are shaped by both our history and our multicultural population. For instance:
In cities like Victoria, BC there are many traditional high tea services similar to those in England, complete with scones, jam and clotted cream.
Indigenous peoples in Canada have a rich history of tea-making using local plants which connects with their deep respect for nature and herbal remedies.
In winter, Canadians are drawn to spiced teas or chai which are especially comforting when sitting around a warm fire shared with good company.
Canada’s diverse immigrant communities have brought with them their own tea customs. From India, China and Japan bubble tea shops and matcha cafes are now thriving in urban areas.
